NY mom charged with DWI after girl’s plea for help

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities near Buffalo, N.Y., have charged a woman with drunken driving after police say her 9-year-old daughter wrote a note pleading for help from passing motorists.

Police in North Tonawanda say 38-year-old Bonnie Will, of Tonawanda, was driving her daughter and two other children, ages 8 and 12, Tuesday when she suddenly stopped her car on a busy road.

Police say her daughter wrote the words “please help us” on a piece of paper and held it up to a window in the car. A motorist called police.

Will was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving drunk with children in her vehicle and child endangerment.

She’s due in City Court March 3.
