A Save-A-Lot grocery store opened Wednesday at 880 E. Liberty St., next to Hubbard Diagnostic and Specialty Center of Sharon Regional Health System.

The store, owned by Richard Stacy, is his second location. He operates another store in Lisbon, which will have been open one year Monday. The store has 20 full- and part-time employees.

Stacy said the grocery store offers fresh-cut meat and produce. There is no bakery or deli.

Stacy described the store as a “limited-assortment full-line supermarket.” That marketing approach, he said, allows for overall prices of 40 percent less than conventional markets. He said the “limited assortment” means that the store carries only one brand of an item, for example, such as mustard or green beans. The store also has some national-brand products.

Store hours are from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
