No. 17 Syracuse 69, No. 15 Villanova 64

PHILADELPHIA

Scoop Jardine and Rick Jackson — a couple of Philly kids — combined for 38 points and No. 17 Syracuse, the worst free throw shooting team in the Big East, sealed the victory at the line Monday night. Jardine had 20 points and six assists for the Orange (23-6, 10-6), while Jackson had 18 points, five rebounds and four blocks.

MID-AMERICAN

Kent State 74, W. Michigan 72.

KALAMAZOO, MICH.

Michael Porrini came off the bench to score 19 points, including a tie-breaking jumper with 2 seconds left, and Kent State rallied. The Golden Flashes (18-9, 9-3 Mid-American Conference) trailed by as much as nine and were down 68-61 with 4:27 to play before rallying. Rodriquez Sherman and Greene each added 14 points for Kent State, which has beaten Western Michigan five straight times.

Wisconsin-Green Bay 81, Valparaiso 80, OT

GREEN BAY, WIS.

Bryquis Perine scored 20 points, including a basket with 11 seconds remaining in overtime, and Wisconsin-Green Bay defeated Valparaiso. Alec Brown had 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Phoenix (13-16, 7-9), who ended a five-game losing streak and kept Valparaiso (20-9, 11-5) from pulling into a tie with Cleveland State for the Horizon League lead. Cleveland State is 12-4 in conference play with two games remaining. Jarvis Williams scored 14 points and Rahmon Fletcher had 13 points and five assists for Wisconsin-Green Bay, which held a 16-point lead in the first half. Brandon Wood led the Crusaders with 24 points. Ryan Broekhoff scored 20 and was 5 for 6 from 3-point range. His last 3 put Valparaiso ahead 80-78 with 33 seconds left in overtime, but Perine made a free throw and later scored the winner.

WOMEN’S TOP 25

No. 4 Tennessee 77, No. 22 Georgia 44

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.

Meighan Simmons scored 14 points and Tennessee cruised to its 16th Southeastern Conference regular season title. The Lady Volunteers (26-2, 14-0) have beaten their opponents by an average of 24.2 points during their undefeated run through conference play.

No. 12 Miami 74, Wake Forest 46

CORAL GABLES, Fla.

Shenise Johnson scored 19 points to lead Miami to a win over Wake Forest. The win keeps Miami (24-3, 10-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) in contention for the conference regular season championship.

North Carolina State 88, No. 13 North Carolina 72

RALEIGH, N.C.

Amber White scored 23 points to help North Carolina State. Bonae Holston added 13 points and 16 rebounds as the Wolfpack (12-15, 3-9 Atlantic Coast Conference) finally broke through for a big victory after a series of crushing home losses this season.

No. 21 Marist 79, St. Peter’s 38

JERSEY CITY, N.J.

Erica Allenspach had 13 points and a career-high seven steals and Marist extended the nation’s current longest winning streak in women’s basketball to 21 games. The Red Foxes (25-2, 16-0) held St. Peter’s without a field goal for the final 14:41 of the first-half in wrapping up the top seed for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament for the seventh straight year.
