Winter-storm warning today

VIENNA

A winter-storm warning is in effect until noon today for Trumbull County, according to the National Weather Service. Up to 4 inches of snow was expected by this morning. Ice accumulations of a quarter-inch also are possible.

Sleet, rain or freezing rain this morning will change to snow and sleet accumulating 1 to 2 additional inches. More snow is forecast tonight and Tuesday morning, the weather service said.

Although no storm warning was posted for Mahoning County as of late Sunday night, the weather service calls for lesser amounts of snow, sleet and ice there through tonight.

Drug-raid arrests in Youngstown

Two people, including a 15-year-old boy, have been arrested after drug raids in the city last week.

Jacqueline Price, 25, of North Garland Avenue, was arrested and charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Reports say police found a syringe, prescription pills, crack pipes and a digital scale during a raid on her Garland Avenue home Wednesday evening.

The 15-year-old teen was arrested for a curfew violation warrant after police raided a home on LaBelle Avenue on Wednesday evening. Police found photos and a digital scale in the home during the raid.

Lecture on cancer

YOUNGSTOWN

Catherine Mosher, assistant professor of psychology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, will give a talk on the supportive- care needs of cancer patients and their families at 2 p.m. March 11, in the Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University.

Mosher, a 2002 psychology graduate of YSU, is nationally known for her research with cancer patients and their families.

Playhouse teams up with the Phantoms

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Playhouse and the Youngstown Phantoms will team up for a fundraiser for the community theater March 4.

The evening will include a hockey game in which the Phantoms will take on the Fargo (N.D.) Force. It begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Covelli Centre.

Four dollars from every $10 ticket purchased will be donated to the theater.

All orders must be received by 5 p.m. Friday. This offer will not be available at the Covelli Centre box office.
