The Austintown Middle School PTA announced the winners of its annual Reflections art program.

Logan Skolnick, Samantha Toth, Katie O’Brien and Billy Gartland received a certificate and a $25 prize.

Their work moved first to the Austintown Council of PTAs for judging at that level. All have now moved to the state level for judging.

“These students went above and beyond to create works of art that are true winners,” said Laurie Gartland, AMS PTA president. “We’re very proud of their efforts.”

PTA strongly supports education in the arts. The Ohio PTA, through National PTA, holds an annual cultural arts program, Reflections.

Children in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit works of art in six areas: literature, visual arts, photography, Dance Choreography, Film/Video and musical composition.

In Austintown, each PTA unit holds its own Reflections program. The winners in each unit are submitted to the council for its program. For the last two years, Austintown Middle School has had a winner at the state level.
