Love, or maybe puppy love, was in the air at Hilltop Elementary School during the school’s annual Valentine’s Day parties Monday.
Each class hosted a party in their classrooms, coordinated by PTO volunteers, during which students played games, made crafts, enjoyed a snack and exchanged the all-important valentines.
Students brought in hand-decorated valentine boxes or bags to collect valentines and treats from their classmates. The school’s PTO provided snacks and drinks for the parties.
The students played holiday-themed games like hot heart, a spin-off of hot potato; a relay race to unwrap small valentine candies while wearing gloves; a relay race using valentine stuffed animals and “Pin the Heart on the Heart.”
Many students, staff and PTO volunteers also got into the spirit of the holiday and celebrated it by wearing their Valentine best, including red, pink and white shirts and special Valentine-themed clothes and accessories.
