Suspect indicted in Nov. shooting

YOUNGSTOWN

A Mahoning County grand jury indicted a man accused of shooting a bystander in the head during a fight on the South Side late last year.

Kshaun Weaver, 19, of Oak Street, was indicted on two counts of felonious assault and illegal possession of a firearm in the shooting of 22-year-old Kenneth Woods Jr. He is in the county jail on a combined $185,000 bond.

The shooting for which Weaver was charged occurred Nov. 28 on East Lucius Avenue near Erie Street. Police were called at 3:30 p.m. in response to reports of gunshots, a large fight and several wrecked cars.

When they arrived, they found Woods, of West Judson Street, slumped over in the driver’s seat of his car. Woods had a head wound and couldn’t speak.

He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Police said Woods had nothing to do with the fight.

The grand jury also indicted these people Thursday on these charges:

Brian Rockwell, 34, Michigan Avenue, Sebring, two counts of burglary, two counts of theft, receiving stolen property and attempted burglary.

Eshone Christian, 19, Thornton Avenue, trafficking in marijuana.

Saeed Garner, 26, Lans-downe Boulevard, trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana, burglary, permitting drug abuse and possessing criminal tools.

Wilfred Chin, 39, of Lanterman Avenue, trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana, burglary, permitting drug abuse and possessing criminal tools.

Ta-Asia Garner, 27, Lanterman Avenue, trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana, burglary, permitting drug abuse and possessing criminal tools.

Robert Vecchio, 46, state Route 164, Lisbon, theft.

Michael Bennett, 49, Garfield Avenue, breaking and entering and possessing criminal tools.

Israel Lopez, 38, Brandon Avenue, breaking and entering, safecracking, receiving stolen property and possession of drugs.

Joseph Rudolph, 25, North Park Road, Warren, and Martha Street, Campbell, failure to comply with order or signal of police officer.

Nickie Gray, 40, East Philadelphia Avenue, domestic violence.

Jerry Toney, 65, Kenmore Avenue, receiving stolen property.

Hunter Hodson, 23, Elberen Avenue, burglary and illegal possession of a weapon.

William Milano III, 41, Sheridan Road, Boardman, possession of cocaine.
