Police: Body found in home of missing Ohio woman's mom
BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (AP) — Investigators found a body believed to be a missing woman hidden in the basement of her mother’s house, and they were searching for the mother’s live-in boyfriend, police said today.
Officers discovered the body Wednesday night after they noticed clothing that appeared to be blood-stained while they were talking with the mother, police said.
Tiffany Brown, 26, has been missing nearly a week. Her mother told police on Saturday that Brown left her two children with a neighbor a day earlier so that she could run a few errands. The neighbor said Brown expected to be gone only an hour, the Bellefontaine Examiner reported.
Authorities were waiting for an autopsy to confirm the identity of the body.
No charges have been filed. Police in this western Ohio town said there is a nationwide hunt for a 32-year-old man who is the mother’s boyfriend and lived in the basement. Authorities described him as a person of interest in the case.
Police found Brown’s car at an apartment complex in town on Monday. The father of Brown’s two children lives in Cincinnati and earlier told police he did not know anything about her disappearance.
