Boy finds loaded gun

A woman told police her 9-year-old son found a loaded gun after he got off his school bus.
The boy found the gun on the ground around 4 p.m. Tuesday on Woodside Avenue near McGuffey Road on the East Side.
The semiautomatic, 45-caliber handgun contained eight live rounds.
Johnson to speak
WARREN
Martha Johnson, administrator for the federal General Services Administration, will visit here Friday to discuss the Warren Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training program.
The nine-month program provides on-the-job training and classroom work to prepare workers to enter the construction industry or gain acceptance into apprenticeship programs for higher-paying trades.
It is one of only three GSA-funded training programs in the nation.
Johnson will tour a Habitat for Humanity house the group is constructing on Palmyra Road to talk to program participants.
Johnson’s agency is responsible for almost 10,000 federal government-owned and operated buildings nationwide.
Grass-cutting program
WARREN
Trumbull County commissioners invite the public to attend a meeting regarding the county’s grass-cutting program at 3 p.m. today.
The meeting will be at the commissioners meeting room, fifth floor of the county administration building, 160 High St. NW, across from the county courthouse.
The sheriff’s office has provided the service to senior citizens for four years at no cost to the homeowner using inmates from the jail to do the work. They are supervised by a corrections officer.

Home invasion
YOUNGSTOWN
A Youngstown woman confronted two burglars in her living room after she went to investigate because her dog was barking.
Police said the burglars left the house and ran away after the 20-year-old woman came into the room shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The burglars had slipped something between the side door’s lock and doorjamb to get in, police said.
