Home Depot stores in the Mahoning and Shenango valleys will each on average hire between 25 and 30 part-time seasonal employees for the spring season, the store’s busiest time of the year.

Home Depot announced earlier in the week that stores in the Cleveland area will hire 900 part-time seasonal employees and up to 60,000 nationwide.

The area stores’ hirings are not included in the Cleveland number, said Jennifer King, senior marketing manager for Home Depot’s Northern Division. Overall, Home Depot’s hiring in 2011 is up over 2010, she said.

“Spring is our Christmas, and Home Depot is planning ‘Black Friday’ events in March and April based on climate and geography,” King said.

Spring is a busy time for the home-improvement industry and a key hiring season for The Home Depot. Hiring and training will be done through March, she said.

Seasonal associates will be assigned responsibilities based on their previous retail or home-improvement experience and depending on the needs of individual stores.

People interested in Home Depot jobs can apply online at careers.homedepot.com or by visiting an in-store career kiosk at any Home Depot store.

Area stores are at 1900 Niles-Cortland Road, Warren; 6100 Mahoning Ave., Austintown; 7001 Southern Blvd., Boardman; 2900 E. State St., Salem; and 3300 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, Pa.
