YOUNGSTOWN
The Canfield couple accused of embezzling nearly $1 million from a former business partner will have one more court date before their case goes to trial.
Scott and Linda Adair appeared Wednesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for a pretrial hearing, where they sat down with their attorneys and Assistant Mahoning County Prosecutor Kenneth J. Cardinal to discuss the status of the case.
The couple was indicted in March 2010 after a yearlong investigation by Austintown police into the embezzlement of nearly $1 million from Southwind Trucking Inc. of Austintown between March 1, 2004, and Oct. 31, 2007.
Scott Adair was co- owner of the company at the time.
Cardinal said a final pretrial was scheduled for May 25.
Another hearing was necessary before the case can go to trial because the Adairs’ attorneys still are reviewing some 15,000 pages of records and documents that were entered into evidence by the prosecution, Cardinal said.
“This allows them to complete their investigation,” he said.
