Area Home Depot stores to hire seasonal workers

YOUNGSTOWN — Home Depot stores in the Mahoning and Shenango Valley area will each on average hire between 25 and 30 part-time seasonal employees for the spring season, the store’s busiest time of the year.

Home Depot announced earlier in the week that stores in the Cleveland area will hire 900 part-time seasonal employees and up to 60,000 nationwide.

The area stores’ hirings are not included in the Cleveland number, said Jennifer King, senior marketing manager for Home Depot’s Northern Division. Overall, Home Depot’s hiring in 2011 is up over 2010, she said.

“Spring is our Christmas and Home Depot is planning ‘Black Friday’ events in March and April based on climate and geography,” King said.
