AP NewsBreak: GOP boss gets job lobbying Gov. Kasich

COLUMBUS (AP) — An influential GOP political leader who helped field Ohio’s winning 2010 gubernatorial ticket will now be paid $10,000 a month to lobby the new administration and lawmakers for the University of Akron.

Summit County Republican Chairman Alex Arshinkoff will do his work through a subcontract with Sean P. Dunn & Associates, according to information the lobbying firm provided to The Associated Press.

Under terms of its $270,000 contract for state and federal lobbying, the Columbus-based firm is free to hire outside experts.

Republican Gov. John Kasich has warned Statehouse lobbyists against greediness amid a budget crisis.

Arshinkoff told the AP he expects no special treatment from Kasich — or Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor, whom he groomed for politics.

Kasich’s spokesman says no one will get favors.
