BOARDMAN

Police are increasing patrols around the Family Dollar store, 4030 Market St., after an armed robbery at the store Wednesday.

Detectives are still looking for two people who got away with nearly $1,000.

A man with a scarf covering his face entered the store about 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, brandished a handgun and grabbed a 56-year-old male store employee by the neck as a second suspect approached the employee’s back, reports state.

The suspects ordered the employee to open the safe and cash register and then fled in the direction of Hillman Way, police said.

The suspect with the gun was described as a black man between 20 to 30 years old, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds.

He was wearing a black jacket with a gray scarf around his face. The second suspect was described as a 6-foot black man with a thin build, who was wearing a black and red jacket, blue jeans and a white wrap on his head, police said.

Both men wore latex gloves, according to reports. Anyone with information is asked to call Boardman police.
