YOUNGSTOWN

A Mahoning County grand jury indicted two Youngstown men on charges of attempted murder and felonious assault with firearm specifications in the Nov. 23 shootings of a 29-year-old man and his 50-year-old mother in the victims’ West Side residence.

Indicted Thursday were Sherrick Jackson, 23, and Dawan Fuller, 19, both of East Judson Avenue.

Police found Robert Shaffer and Michelle E. Holmes on the floor of their Oakwood Avenue apartment. Shaffer was shot in the abdomen and both legs. Holmes was shot in the abdomen and shoulder. Both victims, who survived, were taken to the intensive-care unit at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Also indicted was Corey Cochran, 25, who listed addresses on East Lucius and Pinehurst avenues, who was charged with burglary, escape, possessing criminal tools and permitting drug abuse.

Cochran was arrested Nov. 18 in Grafton on warrants from Boardman police on those charges.

In January 2011, through the Crime Stoppers program, Youngstown police offered a reward for information leading to Cochran’s arrest and conviction on charges of possessing criminal tools, burglary and escape.

In that case, Cochran had fled from a detective’s car after being apprehended while fleeing from a stolen car containing burglary suspects on Youngstown’s South Side, police said.
