Jesus as an ‘occupier?’ Not really
Tuesday’s column, “Sorry GOP, Jesus was an ‘occupier,’” was way off base and the writer certainly does not know the scriptures. The Democrats and Republicans are just like the Pharisees and the Sadducees of the time of Jesus and they were the ones who wanted to kill Him, even though that is the reason why He came to this dark, sinful planet.
People always try to use the Bible to justify their positions and thereby twist the scripture to their own destruction. Jesus said that His kingdom is not of this earth and that people should give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s. All the governments of the world are controlled by the evil one and one day Jesus will return and set everything straight.
In the meantime the scripture says that if a man doesn’t work he shouldn’t eat and that all rebellion against any type of government is like the sin of witchcraft or worship of the devil. If all these occupiers and complainers would work instead of picket, the world would be a different place.
Our forefathers left England when they didn’t agree with the practice of the church or the government. Then when they settled here they stole the Indians’ land and enslaved African people for 400 years. Later they gave alcohol and gambling to the Indians and demeaned the descendants of Africa with social programs instead of respect and dignity.
A house divided cannot stand and the government is divided. The government sends men into outer space, where there is nothing and sends men to war against sovereign countries where we have no business being. If the country used all of the money used to send people to space and war for the nation, the nation would be strong and righteous.
Jesus said blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. This Christmas let America turn back to God, repent of its sins and feed the hungry, visit the sick, help the weak and love and respect all people in the world and help them whenever and wherever they can. This is the true meaning of Christmas.
