Nov. 17

Theft: A Parkside Circle woman told police a check for $448.61 was stolen and cashed. The transaction appears to have been part of a fraud by alleged representatives of Medicare.

Nov. 18

Mutual aid: Police dogs were dispatched on a mutual-aid call for the Mahoning County Sheriff Department to sniff out drugs in a vehicle. Police found flavored rolling cigar paper and fresh suspected marijuana residue and charged the suspect driving the car in the city with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Nov. 19

Warrant: Police charged Sharon Ballard, 42, of Canton with drug abuse of marijuana and falsification and arrested her on a warrant from Stark County for forgery and passing bad checks.

Nov. 22

Theft: Two black urn-style planter pots were stolen from the front of Burns, O’Hare & Bella Inc., 565 N. Broad St.

Nov. 24

Harassment: A South Broad Street woman reported receiving “nonstop” phone calls from her husband. They are divorcing.

Nov. 26

Aggravated menacing: A Lisbon Street woman received phone calls from a man saying if she gave him $2,500 he would give her $1.5 million. Attempts to call back the man by police were unsuccessful because the number came back as nonworking. Police advised the woman the transaction was fraud, and not to give the man any money.

Drug offense: Police charged Samuel Scarpino, 19, of Canton, with possession of drug paraphernalia, and Alexander Welch, 18, of North Canton, with possession of drug paraphernalia after their arrest in the city.

Drug abuse: Commar Fry, 19, of 1452 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown and Zachary Bukovi, 20, of 2052 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown were each arrested on a charge of drug abuse of marijuana.

Nov. 27

Theft: Police charged Kimberly Slipski, 35, of 16847 Heiser Road, Berlin Center, with theft from Giant Eagle, 525 E. Main St. She shoplifted a total of $469.57 of merchandise, a police report said.

Nov. 28

Drug abuse: Police charged Thomas Milligan,III, 31, of 127 E. Prospect St., Girard, with drug abuse of marijuana.

Identity theft: A Shadydale Drive woman reported someone had used her credit card to make an unauthorized purchase on the internet.

Nov. 30

Drug abuse: Police charged Johnathan Russell, 24, of 89 Timber Run Drive, with drug abuse of marijuana and possession of a small green, unmarked pill after his arrest in the city.

Dec. 4

Warrant: Police arrested Richard Fox III, 32, of 1431 N. State Route 45, North Jackson, on an unspecified warrant from the Mahoning County Sheriff Department during a traffic stop at North Broad Street.

Dec. 6

Drug paraphernalia: Police charged Roger Geiser, 18, of 171 Dartmouth Drive, with possession of drug paraphernalia after officers found a silver socket containing suspected marijuana residue at Canfield High School, 100 Cardinal Drive.

Dec. 7

Falsification: Police charged Clayton Channing, 24, of 8385 Pinehill Drive, Poland, and Michael Ramun, 28, of 8187 North Lima Road, Poland, with falsification after a traffic stop near Chase Bank, 34 N. Broad St.

Threatening call: A Warren woman employed as a caretaker to a East Main Street patient reported receiving threatening phone calls from the patient’s sister.

Dec. 8

Trespassing: Police charged Michael Lucyk, 53, of 11172 Detwiler Road, Columbiana, with trespassing at a home in the 300 block of South Broad Street.
