Today’s entertainment picks:

v “The Nutcracker,” 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.: Ballet Western Reserve presents the holiday favorite at Powers Auditorium, 260 W. Federal St., Youngstown; 330- 744-0264.

v Holiday parade and festival, 1 to 7 p.m.: This family event will be centered around Central Square and the 20 Federal Plaza building. A parade along East Federal Street will begin at 3 p.m., followed by the Christmas tree lighting.

“Community Connection” (7 a.m. Sunday on 21 WFMJ-TV): Youngstown native Keith Vukosinovich’s has started a counseling group that focuses mainly on minorities and aims to promote and enhance emotional well being. Vukosinovich will join host Madonna Chism Pinkard to discuss his new venture and his reasons for returning to Youngstown.

Next, Shirley Lisk from St. Joe’s at the Mall will discuss the services available at the mall-based community outreach center.

Finally, Jess Briganti, the newest weather broadcaster at WFMJ, will discuss her work.

“Increase the Peace” (6:30 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday on MyYTV): Host Andrea Mahone’s guest will be Sarah Brown-Clark of Youngstown Municipal Court.

“Sunday Morning with Dee” (8 a.m. Sunday on WKBN-TV 27): Host Dee Crawford’s guests will be Lois Thornton and Aaron Hughes-Ware with Center for Creative Learning. They will discuss the Destination Imagination program, and how to get involved and get a team started.

Trans-Siberian coming to Covelli

YOUNGSTOWN

Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s spring 2012 tour will come to Youngstown’s Covelli Centre on April 26 for a 7:30 p.m. show. Tickets will be availalable for one day to fan club members only at 10 a.m. Wednesday. To sign up for free membership in the fan club, go to trans-siberianexpress.com. Covelli Centre has not yet released the on-sale date for the public. T-SO will play its “Beethoven’s Last Night” album in its entirety on its spring tour. The album mixes historical fact and conjecture to recreate the final night of the great composer in 1827. Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which mixes classic rock with a symphonic flair, did not schedule a Youngstown appearance on its annual holiday-season tour.
