Catholic youth and young adults from age 14 to 30 are invited to celebrate the World Youth Day events Aug. 21 at St. Paul Church, 1459 Superior Ave. NE, North Canton.

The actual event takes place in Madrid, Spain.

The free event is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. with registration starting at 3:45 p.m.

The gathering will begin with prayer and a keynote address.

Participants will then be given several options for prayer, service, music and fun. Music will be provided by the St. Paul’s IOC Team.

The event will culminate with Mass followed by a cookout.

Teens are to come with either a youth ministry group or a parent/legal guardian. Every participant must bring a completed registration form to the event. Forms for youth and adults are posted on the diocesan website at www.doy.org/offices_edu youth_world_youth_day.asp.

All participants are asked to send email to ccase@youngstowndiocese.org or log onto the Facebook event page, “Youngstown World Youth Day 2011 Gathering” to make a reservation by Aug. 15.

At the Madrid event, “YOUCAT,” a youth catechism, will be launched as a resource that teens and young adults can access to learn the truth about the Catholic faith. Copies of these books will be available at the diocesan event for $20.
