Canfield bowlers honored at annual banquet

The Canfield High School bowling team celebrated the end of the 2011 season at the annual banquet April 11 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield.

Both the girls and boys bowlers celebrated successful seasons, both reaching the district finals for the second year in a row.

The girls coach, Howard Mancini, announced that senior Sarah Bolina made All-ACC this year as well as winning Canfield’s Laskey Sportsmanship Award.

Also winning awards on the girls team were senior Alexis Harris, who won the Performance Award and senior Alexis Bates, who won the Bowler of the Year award. The Coaches Award went to Krista Ladner. Sara Hartman won the Most Improved Bowler award.

Boys coach Carl Hurd applauded the high achievement of his entire team and recognized the two bowlers who made First Team All-ACC – freshman Paul Harris and senior Jeremy Hammond – who also won the boys team’s Bowler of the Year award.

Also receiving awards on the boys team was sophomore Mike Dercoli, who won Most Improved Bowler and the Coaches Award.
