YOUNGSTOWN

A crash that killed a 40-year-old North Side man at the scene on Marshall Street at 2 a.m. today is still under investigation.

Arnyl Benson, of Crandall Avenue, was alone and speeding westbound when the pickup truck he was driving left the street, ran through a fence, and plowed underneath a parked delivery truck at the Pepsi distribution center for unknown reasons, said Sgt. Patricia Garcar, crash investigator.

Benson wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and clearly exceeded the 25 mph speed limit, Garcar said, but his exact speed is still unknown, she added. There were no witnesses to the crash, and nobody else was injured, Garcar said.

An autopsy was being performed this morning by Dr. Joseph Ohr, forensic pathologist and deputy Mahoning County coroner.
