Philly firefighter in hot water over calendar

Thursday, April 28, 2011

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Philadelphia firefighter is in hot water after he posed shirtless for a calendar whose proceeds are going to charity.

The Philadelphia Daily News reports that 31-year-old Jack Slivinski posed in front of a city fountain, without his shirt on. It was supposed to be for a calendar featuring Slivinski and 11 other firefighters, slated to be released this year.

But Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers says such shoots violate department policy. Ayers says Slivinski has been bounced from his engine assignment and is being investigated for violating protocols.

The head of the firefighters’ union, Bill Gault, says he should have called the commissioner about it. He says Slivinski and the union wanted to do something for charity.
