Police seeking men who beat 82-year-old

Police are looking for the three men who beat and shot an 82-year-old city man.

The man was shot next to the Pit-Stop Lounge on Logan Avenue around

11:50 p.m. Monday, and when officers arrived, the man was bleeding from his head and face and had a gunshot wound in his thigh, according to reports.

The man told police that he closed the Pit-Stop Lounge, drove his car next door and exited the vehicle when three men dressed in black and holding firearms demanded cash.

Police said the man handed over $500 and two of the men began to punch and kick him in the head and torso. When the man tried to fight back, one of the men fired two shots, according to reports.

Officers said they recovered a .38-caliber shell casing.

The man was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center and was listed in stable condition.
