Mom, kids escape one Campbell fire; another destroys house
CAMPBELL
Campbell Fire Department battled two blazes Thursday.
The first, destroyed an abandoned house on Jefferson Street, happened at 2:30 a.m., the department said.
Flames had engulfed the house by the time the department got there.
A mother and her three children escaped the second fire at 7:53 a.m. at their home on Walter Street, the department said.
The fire started in a second-floor bedroom. Loss totaled $30,000, the department estimated.
The cause is under investigation, and the Red Cross is helping the family.
