It is time to reassess Cuba

I am writing about Cuba, which is an interesting country. The people in general are very sincere to all Americans. They meet the American people with opened arms always.

We have traveled to Cuba since 1999, taking clothing, shoes, medicines that you can purchase in the drug stores. They are in need of baby aspirin, baby food, baby clothes, shoes for children; cribs, highchairs and strollers for babies. We have met eight families, which have become like our own. They are very sincere and appreciative of what you bring to them to help them out.

The United States has to reach out and help these people. It is not the government we are doing wrong to by our embargo, it is the common people there who are suffering. So let’s start giving a caring, helping hand to the Cuban people.

The government does want to reach out to our government but a lot in Congress do not want to do so. It is a shame that we help other countries, but Cuba is the only one we won’t reach out to.

As American citizens we can travel anywhere in the world except Cuba. It is time to lift the trade and travel bans against Cuba.
