Cleveland transit cruiser hydroplanes, hits 2 cars

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland’s transit agency says one of its police cruisers spun out of control on a wet bridge and banged up two parked cars.

Regional Transit Authority spokeswoman Mary McCahon tells The Plain Dealer newspaper that the 14-year veteran officer hydroplaned his car Tuesday afternoon while responding to an urgent call from a fellow officer.

She says no one was in the parked cars. The officer was treated at a hospital for bruises and then released.

Ohio was swept Tuesday afternoon by storms with heavy rain, high winds and hail.

McCahon says her agency will compensate the owners of the damaged parked cars for the damage.
