PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities are looking for the culprits who vandalized dozens of cars in South Philadelphia by dousing the vehicles with some kind of chemical.
Residents on two blocks in the Whitman Park neighborhood awoke Tuesday morning to find 56 vehicles damaged. Police say the cars were apparently sprayed with a caustic liquid that damaged the paint and glass.
Investigators say surveillance video from nearby cameras shows passengers spraying the cars from a dark-colored sedan with a white or gray hood.
A police van was stationed at the end of one of the affected blocks, but authorities say the officer stationed there didn’t see the vandals.
