POLICE CALLS

A summary of police activity in the city of Canfield and Austintown:

Canfield

Oct. 18

Drug abuse: Police charged Jermain Richardson, 21, of 218 Hamrock Drive, Campbell, with drug abuse of marijuana after his arrest at U.S. Route 224 and Lube Plus.

Oct. 21

Theft: Police arrested Lavertta Cooks, 39, of 4579 Kirk Road, Austintown, at Giant Eagle, 525 E. Main St., who police said was caught taking soda, toilet paper and meat.

Oct. 22

Theft: About $200 was reported missing from a vehicle parked on East Main Street.

Oct. 24

Theft: Police charged Christopher Lee Poe, 28, of 7815 Akron-Canfield Road, and Crystal Husarick, 18, same address, with theft and complicity to theft for stealing two boxes of cough medicine at Giant Eagle.

Austintown

Oct. 18

Attempted breaking and entering: A window was broken out but no entry was gained at Belleria Pizza, 3460 S. Meridian Road.

Theft: Police arrested Carl Henneman, 34, of 131 N. Kimberly Ave., Apt. 64, for theft at Sheetz Gas Station, 5499 Mahoning Ave., for reportedly stealing drinks and a single dose of Benadryl.

Lost or stolen plates: Dealer plates were missing at Austintown Auto Sales, 5275 Mahoning Ave.

Theft: Jewelry was stolen from an apartment in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.

Fraud: Unauthorized purchases were reported at an apartment in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.

Oct. 19

Fraud: A woman reported that two checks with her name but wrong middle initial were sent to her by a collection agency that had been cashed in Columbus in 2005. The Vassar Drive woman said the signature was not hers and neither was the account.

Recovered property: A cash register drawer was recovered in the front yard of a home 80 block of Evans Avenue.

Theft: Audio tweeters were stolen from a vehicle at a home in the 3000 block of Allendale Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle was damaged at a home in the 500 block of South Raccoon Road.

Misuse of credit card: A man is accused of using his girlfriend’s credit card at a home in the 40 block of North Edgehill Avenue.

Theft: A woman is accused of theft at Meridian Arms, 650 S. Meridian Road.

Oct. 20

Theft: An air compressor and heater were stolen from a home in the 1000 block of North Turner Road.

Theft: A silver and gold certificate plate was reported stolen from an auto in the 100 block of North Navarre Avenue.

Theft: A company check for $5,168 was stolen at S.P. Logistics, 340 Victoria Road.

Vehicle theft: A 1994 Chevrolet van was stolen at Phoenix House, 850 N. Meridian Road.

Theft: Police charged Marc Chicase, 33, of 4811 Westchester Drive, with theft of eyeliner at Wal-Mart, 6001 Mahoning Ave., and on drug charges.

Robbery: An unidentified male stole an undetermined number of cigarette packs and an undetermined amount of cash after making the teller open her cash register at Shell gas station, 4200 Mahoning Ave.

Oct. 21

Disorderly conduct: Police issued a summons to Nicholas Graham, 25, of 4265 Pleasant Valley Lane, Canfield, for disorderly conduct at Speedway, 4401 Kirk Road.

Fraud: A $975 money order was presented to be cashed at Wal-Mart but was determined to be fake.

Fraud: A fake U.S. Treasury check for $3,500 was cashed at Wal-Mart.

Theft: A credit card was reported missing from a woman’s purse at Kmart, 4475 Mahoning Ave.

Warrant: Police arrested Terrill McDonald, 20, of Florida, on a warrant for reported theft for stealing $317 of merchandise.

Telecommunications harassment: Telecommunication harassment was reported at a home in the 6000 block of Fairview Road.

Criminal trespass: Police charged Nicholas Martin, 39, of 253 Maplewood, Struthers, with criminal trespassing at the TA Travel Center, 5400 Seventy-Six Drive.

Oct. 22

Warrant: Police arrested Linda L. Barnard, 60, of 11 S. Cedar Ave., Niles, on a warrant for contempt of court for a traffic violation.

Theft: A total of $49 in fuel was taken at Country Fair, 1143 N. Niles-Canfield Road.

Criminal damaging: An unidentified object struck a vehicle causing damage at the state Route 11 and Oakcrest Drive bridge.

Burglary: Copper pipe was taken from a home in the 6000 block of Fairview Avenue.

Theft: An undetermined amount of money was taken from a home in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.

Liquor violation: Authorities cited The Budapest, 3780 Mahoning Ave., for underage sales.

Liquor violation: Authorities cited The Chalet, 3692 S. Meridian Road, for underage sales.

Liquor violation: Authorities cited The Manor, 3104 S. Canfield-Niles Road, for underage sales.

Oct. 23

Theft: A 26-inch mountain bike was stolen at Rumor’s Lounge, 104 N. Meridian Road.

Weapons offense: Police issued a summons to Ashley Berry, 21, of 18 N. Lakeview Ave., Youngstown, for improperly handling a firearm at Oakwood Avenue and Meridian Road.

Recovered property: A 1996 Pontiac stolen in Youngstown was recovered at Conroy’s, 3670 S. Meridian Road.

Theft: A total of $36 in gasoline was stolen from the Shell gas station,4200 Mahoning Ave.

Breaking and entering: A garage was broken into in the 1000 block of South Meridian Road.

Warrant: Police issued a warrant to Samuel Cianciola Jr., 42, of 521 Western Place, for a reported theft.

Theft: A lawnmower was stolen from a home in the 2000 block of North Redgate Lane.

Theft: A purse was stolen from Casal Aveda, 6000 Mahoning Ave.

Drug offense: Police issued a summons to David Fodor, 28, of 5913 Yorktown Lane, for reported possession of drug paraphernalia at Rebel Pizza, 5335 Seventy-Six Drive.

Criminal trespassing: Police charged Jodi Gallagher, 27, of 1962 Brandon Ave., Youngstown, with the crime after her arrest at the TA Travel Center, 5400 Seventy-Six Drive.

Criminal trespassing: Police issued a summons to Kathryn Ratliff, 41, of 1329 Montrose Drive, Liberty, on the charge after her arrest at the TA Travel Center.

Oct. 24

Drug offense: Police issued a summons to Benjamin Cleland, 29, of 107 S. Main St., for reported possession of drug paraphernalia.

Theft: Police issued a summons to Terry Lewis, 54, of 4821 Westchester Drive, for reported theft of $2 worth of crackers at Sheetz gas station, 5499 Mahoning Ave.

Recovered property: A 2003 Pontiac Vibe stolen from a home in the 2000 block of Evelyn Road was recovered by the Ohio State Patrol at state Route 46 and Silica Road.

Burglary: $150 and prescription drugs were taken at an apartment in the 100 block of Fountain Square.

Theft: Two Sanyo 19-inch LED televisions were stolen at Wal-Mart.

Burglary: Prescriptions were taken from an apartment in the 3000 block of Lynhaven Road. Entry was gained through an unlocked door.

Theft: Two unidentified females stole two perfume sets at Walgreens, 3800 Tippecanoe Road.

Burglary: A garage door as kicked in, a home was damaged and some property was taken in the 200 block of Athens Drive.
