SCOUTS

Earns Eagle honor

Robert W. Reed, 18, of Canfield, son of Rob and Candy Reed, recently became an Eagle Scout during a court-of- honor ceremony at Canfield United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Cub Scout Pack 25 for five years at the church and attained the Arrow of Light, Cub Scouting’s highest honor. He has been a member of Boy Scout Troop 25 since 2004 with Scoutmaster Kevin Prus Sr.

He has had positions of patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, quartermaster, scribe and historian and has earned 21 merit badges. He received the fifth-year Camp Seven Ranges Pipestone Award, God and Church Award, second year Camp McKinley Heritage Award and the Gettysburg Trail Medal.

He also earned the troop award of Bob Roberts Memorial Back Patch with six points. He is an Ordeal member of Wapashuwi Lodge, Order of the Arrow.

For his Eagle Scout service project, he planned, designed, coordinated and supervised the replacement of the walking bridge on the West Newport Trail of Mill Creek Park.

Reed is a senior at Canfield High School, where he is a four-year letterman in wrestling, three-year letterman in cross country, one-year letterman in track and field and has been a member of Key Club, Y-Teens, Young Leaders, and National Honor Society. He was captain of the wrestling team for three years and captain of the cross-country team for one year. He is a member of the church and its youth group.
