Statues atop Mahoning Co. Courthouse to be removed Friday

YOUNGSTOWN — A crane is scheduled to remove the copper statues representing Justice, Strength and Authority and Law, from the roof of the Mahoning County Courthouse at 1 p.m. Friday, weather permitting, said architect James Yoder of the 4M Co. in Boardman.

The removal is part of an emergency stabilization of the deteriorated rooftop statue pedestal at the century-old landmark. The statues will be in off-site storage pending a full restoration of the courthouse.
