POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

Oct. 15

Assault: An Illinois Avenue woman told police a female neighbor tackled and struck her face, then threatened to kill her.

Theft: A cell phone and $5 in change were stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of Second Street.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Louis Avenue woman said her son drove her car without permission.

Oct. 16

Criminal damaging: The driver of a truck with an attached horse trailer damaged curbs near the drive-through at Dairy Queen, 201 S. State St., and drove away.

Possible criminal damaging: A woman in the 800 block of North Highland Avenue discovered an overhead garage-door was off its tracks, possibly an intentional act.

Oct. 17

Assault: Police received a report that a woman had shoved her 13-year-old daughter at a residence in the 20 block of Second Street.

Criminal damaging: Someone cut copper wiring in the basement of a home in the 100 block of Belgrade Avenue and disconnected the water heater.

Theft: A woman reported her purse stolen from a shopping cart at a Church Hill Road store.

Criminal mischief: A razor blade was found in a car’s passenger-side tire in the 200 block of Mosier Road.

Theft: A $150 car stereo was removed from a vehicle in the 100 block of East Main Street.

Criminal mischief: Someone threw bottles at a home in the 100 block of East Howard Street, breaking and causing $150 in damage to a window.

Oct. 18

Theft: A West Howard Street woman reported a $500 laptop computer stolen.

HUBBARD

Oct. 13

Theft: A shoplifter was detained at Devine’s Shop ‘n’ Save, 529 N. Main St., before steaks were found in a vehicle.

Fraud: A Myron Street woman said someone cashed one of her checks for $6.20 without authorization.

Oct. 14

Domestic violence: Richard McFarland, 24, of 518 W. Liberty St., Hubbard, was charged with the crime after authorities received a report that McFarland, wearing a hockey mask, had chased and threatened his girlfriend.

Theft: Items were taken from a yard in the 40 block of West Park Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A man in the 40 block of West Park Avenue noticed vehicle damage.

Oct. 15

Theft: A worker for Nadia’s Family Restaurant, 322 W. Liberty St., reported money missing from a drawer.

Oct. 16

Criminal damaging: Damage was done to a vending machine in the 300 block of South Main Street.

Theft: A Devine’s Shop ‘n’ Save official detained a woman accused in a shoplifting situation.

Oct. 17

Menacing: An East Liberty Street woman reported her former husband has been threatening and harassing her.

LIBERTY

Oct. 14

Theft: A classroom key was stolen at W.S. Guy Middle School, 4115 Shady Road.

Arrest: Andrew J. Kocak, 29, of 112 W. Dennick Ave., Youngstown, was taken into custody at a Belmont Avenue motel on a warrant from Niles.

Breaking and entering: Copper pipes were missing from a vacant home in the 1700 block of Pleasant Valley Road that someone had entered.

Theft: A charge was pending against a 19-year-old Youngstown man after a $34 set of headphones was stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.

Theft: Two ink cartridges were stolen from Walmart, resulting in a possible charge against a 45-year-old Youngstown man.

Theft: All of a vehicle’s tires and rims were removed in the 4000 block of Monticello Boulevard.

Theft: A Youngstown man, 25, was accused in, but not charged with, the theft of a $55 rifle scope from Walmart.

Theft: A 23-year-old Niles woman was detained but released after cosmetics were stolen from Walmart.

Drugs: Officers picked up 19-year-old Willie A. Gregory, 1175 Park Hill Drive, Youngstown, at the Mahoning County Jail. Gregory was accused of failing to appear in court on a drug-possession charge.

Oct. 15

Theft: Keith E. Allen, 54, of 68 W. Chalmers Ave., Youngstown, faced charges of theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after a bottle of perfume and air fresheners were stolen from Rite Aid Pharmacy, 2704 Belmont Ave. Allen also was wanted on a misdemeanor larceny count from Mahoning County.

Breaking and entering: Someone smashed a side window and entered Inner Circle Pizza, 3570 Belmont Ave. Youngstown police later found a cash-register drawer and money thought to have been stolen from the eatery.

Misuse of a credit card: A Church Hill-Hubbard Road woman reported about $320 worth of fraudulent charges to her check card.

Theft: An 18-year-old Youngstown man faced a possible charge after a Sony PlayStation game and a pair of sunglasses were stolen from Walmart.

Oct. 16

Drugs: Police in the 200 block of Colonial Drive charged Glen W. Parker, 20, of 4000 Logan Gate Road, Liberty, with drug abuse after saying a bag of suspected marijuana was found. They also arrested 18-year-old Richard D. Sutton, 216 Colonial, on charges of obstructing official business and disorderly conduct when, a report said, an enraged Sutton yelled and swore at officers conducting the investigation.

Breaking and entering: Roughly $1,000 worth of copper piping was removed from a residence in the 900 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road, though police found no signs of forced entry.

Oct. 17

Harassment: A Ravine Drive woman told police a North Canton man has been sending threatening and unwanted sexual text messages.

Domestic violence: A 15-year-old Youngstown boy was charged after his mother alleged the teen had threatened to punch her face when she intervened during an argument between the boy and his sibling.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a home in the 1100 block of Trails Edge Drive and stole a $600 pressure washer.

Recovered property: A James Lane woman’s Dodge Grand Caravan was returned after she reported an acquaintance had taken it without permission.

Criminal damaging: Someone tossed a bottle and struck a vehicle’s rear window in the 900 block of Keefer Road. Damage was estimated at $500.

Burglary: To a home in the 3000 block of Youngstown-Hubbard Road, from which a pressure washer and a .22-caliber rifle were taken.

Breaking and entering: Someone smashed an overhead garage-window before entering Goodyear Auto Service Center, 3651 Belmont Ave. Nothing seemed to be missing, however.

Theft: A 40-year-old Niles woman faced a possible charge after makeup was stolen from Walmart.

Oct. 18

Criminal damaging: A key was used to cause $200 in damage to a vehicle’s finish in the 1400 block of Keefer Road.
