Police checkpoints

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown police will conduct checkpoints throughout the city Wednesday, Oct. 26 and 28 specifically checking for motorists who are driving with a suspended license. The checkpoint locations and times will vary.

Injured in shooting

Eric Kilgore Jr., 24, of East Liberty Street, was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, after being shot in the neck Saturday morning. He was first taken to Forum Health Northside Medical Center, where officials there called Hubbard police to report the gunshot wound.

Detective James Taafe said Kilgore was treated for a wound caused by a .22-caliber gun. He said the incident is being investigated. Kilgore was unable to tell police where the incident occurred or give any description of his attacker. Kilgore, who is in the Army, is being deployed overseas.

Building break-in

Sometime over a three-week period, a brass shutoff valve was removed from the fire-suppression system of a vacant Delphi Packard Electric building at the corner of Griswold Street and Paige Avenue, flooding the building’s basement.

A Delphi representative reported Friday afternoon that someone broke into the building sometime between Sept. 24 and Friday afternoon through a metal, west-facing door.
