Monday, October 18, 2010

COLUMBUS (AP) — The Ohio National Guard plans to build a new operations center in Columbus.

The building will be used to track whereabouts of soldiers and airmen from Ohio who are deployed around the world and across the country.

Workers plan to break ground soon and the project is scheduled to be finished next October.

The new building costs about $2 million — most of which is covered by federal funding, It is being built next to the current operations center.

Maj. Eric Krantz says the Guard’s operations needs have outgrown the current space.
