Campbell mayor’s hearing reset

LISBON

A pretrial hearing that was scheduled Monday in Columbiana County Municipal Court on a drunken driving charge for Campbell Mayor George Krinos was rescheduled.

The case was set for a pretrial hearing at 9:45 a.m. Dec. 9 after Krinos hired Akron lawyer Michael Maillis. In August, Krinos pleaded innocent to driving drunk and speeding on state Route 11 near Columbiana.

Krinos told The Vindicator after the charge that he had “two drinks” at a party with his wife and had left the party to help a longtime personal friend when he got pulled over at 3:58 a.m. Aug. 27. He was stopped for driving 76 mph in a 65 mph limit on state Route 11.

The mayor, 33, later said: “Not at any time did I feel impaired, nor would I have gotten behind the wheel if I had thought I was impaired.” He has been mayor since December.

Free computer class

YOUNGSTOWN

A free class on the Basics of Microsoft Word will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. today, at Cornersburg Baptist Church, 3898 Tippecanoe Road.

Other word processors will work for the class, however the focus will be MS Word. Participants need to bring their own computers. To register, call 330-702-8959.

Man arrested after break-in at bank

HERMITAGE, PA

A man was arrested after he broke into the First National Bank headquarters at 1 FNB Blvd., Hermitage police reported.

Mark L. Dickson, 48, no current address, was arrested around 11 p.m. Sunday after he broke in through a window, police said.

Dickson set off the alarm. He was found inside and taken into custody. He claimed to be Howard Hughes and said that he owned the premises.

Dickson was charged with criminal trespass and criminal mischief. He was arraigned Monday and failed to post a $20,000 bond. He was taken to the Mercer County Jail pending a preliminary hearing.

Red Cross offers instructor training

WARREN

The American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley is offering instructor training classes on three consecutive Thursdays this month — this Thursday, Dec. 9 and 16 — from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at its main office, 661 Mahoning Ave. NW.

Participants will learn how to become Red Cross instructors in CPR/AED, first aid and blood-borne pathogens/preventing disease transmission. All three sessions are required for successful completion.
