The normal class schedule for kindergartners at Dobbins Elementary was briefly interrupted Monday for a Thanksgiving style pow-wow.

Students of Elaine Fabrizi and Stephanie Mateja’s kindergarten classes wore Native American attire to school for a special gathering honoring the history of Thanksgiving. The students sat near a giant tepee and enjoyed the company of their classmates. They took turns fishing in the makeshift pond and playing inside the tepee.

Ava Nicholudis was excited about the classroom pow-wow. The kindergartners had been learning about America’s early settlers and Native Americans. This event brought the message to life for the students.

“I liked to dress up and learn about the Indians,” Nicholudis said.
