Old-fashioned games and food at Stadium Drive

Students pushed the books aside Tuesday to enjoy a day stuffed with fun and games.
Second-graders at Stadium Drive Elementary were treated to a Thanksgiving meal and games during school in honor of the holiday. They created personalized paper vests and headdresses to wear during the event.
Following lunch, which consisted in traditional dishes such as turkey, corn and cranberries, the students rotated through six game stations. Each station consisted of a simple game that was played by Native Americans or Pilgrims.
Students tested their craftiness with “cats cradle,” a game that required them to pass yarn off to a partner while manipulating the string’s shape.
Coordination skills were needed to play jacks, corn drop, marbles and rocks. The final station involved reading a book about Thanksgiving while enjoying popcorn.
