Co-founder of Libertarian Party dies in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — The Libertarian Party says co-founder David F. Nolan has died. He was 66.

The party says Nolan died unexpectedly Sunday in Tucson. The cause of death is unclear.

A release issued by the party in Washington says Nolan founded the party with a group of colleagues in his home in Denver on Dec. 11, 1971.

Nolan was active in Arizona politics and ran this year as a Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate against incumbent Republican John McCain.

In 2006 Nolan ran for the House in Arizona’s 8th District.
