Police seek suspect in shooting in Pa.

Staff Report

NEW CASTLE, PA

Police have a warrant for the arrest of a man they believe shot another man to death outside a bar in the city.

They are looking for Michael Williams, 33, who is from Youngstown but has lived in New Castle and now possibly Sharpsville, said New Castle Police Chief Tom Sansone.

Williams is charged in the death of Edward Wooten, 39, of New Castle. Wooten was shot outside the Players Lounge at 808 S. Mill St. at 2:25 a.m. Sunday. He died a short time later at Jameson Hospital.

Williams was charged Tuesday with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangering.

Sansone said witnesses outside the bar indicated Williams was the shooter.

Sansone said the shooting happened after several people took an argument that began inside the bar outside.

He said police are looking into what the argument was about, because that may affect whether more charges are filed. He said he didn’t want to elaborate.

Sansone said Wooten and Williams knew each other.
