Canfield’s Smith to play baseball at Cleveland State

Senior Brad Smith signed a national letter-of-intent to attend Cleveland State University to play baseball for the Vikings Nov. 12 in the Canfield High School athletic foyer.

All school faculty, family members, friends and teammates were invited to attend the ceremony.

Focusing his athletic efforts in baseball, Smith will be a two-year varsity letter winner in the sport at Canfield, playing primarily as a pitcher.

His achievement of a 1.13 ERA on the mound for the Cardinals helped propel them to an overall of 19-8, their seventh consecutive conference title and a district runner-up showing in 2010.

He also plays baseball during the summer with the local Ohio Glaciers baseball team as one of their leading pitchers.

Smith has a 3.95 GPA and stands 17th in a class of 286. He is the son of Greg and Melissa Smith.
