Judge to seek re-election

Staff report

WARREN

Judge Terry Ivanchak of Warren Municipal Court will seek re-election to his third six-year term next year.

Ivanchak, a Democrat first elected in 2000, has not had opposition in either of his first two elections.

A press release says since Ivanchak took office, computer and video technology in the court has been improved and a remodeling project and security upgrades have been completed.

The court is focusing on collection of court costs and fines, which has increased revenue to the city of Warren by 38 percent since 2000, the press release says.

Staffing has been reduced from 32 full-time employees in 2000 to 25 full-time employees and four part-timers, the press release says.

Ivanchak, a lifelong Trumbull County resident, graduated in 1971 from Niles McKinley High School and Miami (Ohio) University and received his law degree from Ohio Northern University.

The next six-year term for the court will begin Jan. 1, 2012.

The court handles cases originating out of Warren City, Warren Township, Champion Township and Howland Township.

The other municipal court judge in Warren is Judge Thomas Gysegem.
