Milwaukee, Wright State earn easy wins

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y.

Tone Boyle scored 27 points to lead four players in double figures and Wisconsin-Milwaukee defeated Niagara 90-73 on Wednesday night.

Tony Meier added 17 points, Ryan Allen 15 and Anthony Hill 12 for the Panthers (2-2), who led by as many as 21 points in the second half.

Kashief Edwards led Niagara with 22 points.

Wright State 75, Northwood, Mich. 55

DAYTON

Troy Tabler scored 17 points to lead Wright State, while Matt Vest and Vaughn Duggins added 11 points each for the Raiders (1-1).

Tabler scored seven of his points in a 13-0 run that gave Wright State a 26-9 lead with 8:10 remaining in the first half.

Cameron Joyce and Andrew VanDierenDonck led Northwood (0-3)with 13 points each.

BIG TEN

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.

E’Twaun Moore had 19 points, seven assists and six rebounds to help No. 14 Purdue beat Alcorn State 103-48.

John Hart scored a career-high 16 points and made 4 of 6 3-pointers, Sandi Marcius had 12 points and eight rebounds and JaJuan Johnson added 12 points for the Boilermakers (2-0), who shot 52 percent from the field.

The 55-point win was Purdue’s largest margin of victory since 1983.

Northwestern 77, Texas-Pan American 71.

EDINBURG, Texas

Drew Crawford scored 22 points and John Shurna added 20 as Northwestern survived a scare from Texas-Pan American.

Playing their second consecutive road game, the Wildcats (2-0) had trouble shaking the Broncs (1-3), playing their first game in their renovated facility.

Northwestern never trailed, and its lead finally reached double digits at 61-51 when Shurna sank a free throw with 8:51 to go.

YPSILANTI, Mich.

Antonio Green scored 17 points and Jamell Harris added 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead Eastern Michigan over Madonna 79-70.

Ball State 75, Indiana State 60

MUNCIE, Ind.

Jauwan Scaife scored a career-high 24 points, including 11 straight during a key second-half stretch, to lead Ball State over Indiana State.

The Cardinals (2-0) trailed 37-36 with 14:52 when Scaife took over, scoring on a jumper, a three-point play, two more jump shots and a pair of free throws in a span of two minutes to put Ball State on top 47-37. Scaife had 22 points in the second half.

Randy Davis added 15 points and nine assists for Ball State.
