YSU’s Stocke finishes 48th at regional

Youngstown State senior men’s golfer Ryan Stocke tied for 48th place at the NCAA Central Regional which wrapped up on Saturday at the Warren Golf Course.

Stocke finished with a three-round score of 219 coming up 11 strokes shy of advancing to the NCAA Championships.

Stocke had his best round of the event on Saturday with a two-over par 72. He had an opening round 73 and carded a 74 during his second round which was played over Friday and Saturday because of weather issues.

Stocke tied with three other golfers in the 48th spot.

The five teams to advance to the NCAA Championships in Chattanooga are Stanford, Florida State, Florida, Duke and LSU.

Virginia Tech’s Marshall Bailey outlasted Michigan’s Matt Thompson to earn the berth as the top individual finisher in a playoff. Both finished with a three round 208.
