Data collected by the Ohio Supreme Court shows that the number of new foreclosure cases hit another record in the first three months of the year.

Common-pleas courts in Ohio reported 24,711 new foreclosure case filings from January through March, 9 percent more than the same period last year.

The foreclosures during the first three months of 2009 also set a record at the time.

Ohio also set a record in 2009 for overall foreclosures, with 89,053 filings, a 3.8 percent increase over 2008 and the 14th consecutive annual increase.

Cuyahoga County, which includes Cleveland, had the highest number of new case filings, with 3,722.

Numbers reflect both residential and commercial properties.
