Police: No medical evidence of beating

A detective investigating an aggravated burglary of an elderly man who described being beaten says there is no medical evidence to suggest a beating took place.

Struthers Detective Jeff Pantall said Monday that he talked to a doctor who examined Edward Macejko, 86, of Fifth Street and determined there were no signs Macejko had been beaten.

A family member said earlier this month that Macejko reported being beaten, kicked and thrown against a wall by intruders early May 6.

He was found later that morning by a daughter who came to take him to the bank. The apartment appeared to be ransacked, a police report said.

The report says Macejko reported credit cards, cash and medication stolen.

Police have arrested Justine Hennon, 41, a neighbor, and charged her with two counts of theft by deception involving Macejko. One count involves events from May 6, and the other involves a previous occasion, Pantall said.

Hennon’s preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.
