Warren high school grads to celebrate 60th

WARREN

Members of the 1968 graduating classes at Warren’s Harding and Western Reserve high schools are continuing to plan a 60th birthday party for members of the class.

It will be at 4 p.m. July 24 at Maffitt Meadows on Hoagland-Blackstub Road (Bazetta Road) in Bazetta Township.

For reservations or more information, contact Ron Zelenak (Harding) at billow277@yahoo.com or Mark Clawges (Reserve) at undy526@hotmail.com.

Reserve’s first graduating class was in 1967, but the students who graduated that year and in 1968 had spent much of their high school career and lower grades in school with students who would later graduate from Harding, so many close friendships formed, event organizers say.

Party at Jewish center

Youngstown

The Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, has a party scheduled to reopen its newly renovated pool and locker rooms.

After a month of repairs, the center is hosting the party from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 12 and unveiling the results of a major construction project worth more than $125,000.

The pool now has a new drainage system and a new chlorine and carbon-dioxide injector system. There also are major upgrades in the men’s and women’s locker rooms, which include new sinks, showers, flooring, lighting and other cosmetic improvements.

There will be refreshments for members throughout the day and several raffle drawings for prizes, including a free massage, membership discounts, summer camp discounts, Mahoning Valley Scrappers tickets and goodie bags. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 11 a.m.
