Village, Canfield Township and Boardman officials have established a low seven-month rate for natural gas for members of the two communities’ programs.

Poland Village and Boardman residents in the natural- gas program supplied by IGS Energy will pay a fixed rate of $6.39 per mcf for all gas consumed during the billing cycle months of May through November 2010. A mailer announcing the new rates will be sent by IGS Energy to residents and small businesses on or about April 1.

Canfield residents who receive their gas from Dominion East Ohio and are already a part of the township’s program by IGS Energy will pay a fixed rate of $6.39 per mcf from May to November. Canfield residents whose gas is supplied by Columbia Gas of Ohio will pay a fixed rate of $6.86 per mcf.

“Residents and businesses currently in the program do not need to take any action as they will automatically receive this rate,” said Village Mayor Tim Sicafuse. “Our expiring rate of $7.46 per mcf was an excellent rate for our residents this past winter and we are delighted to have been able to strike an even lower rate going forward.”

Boardman Administrator Jason Loree and Tony Bettile, Canfield trustee said that residents and businesses in their respective communities who are in the program don’t need to take any action. They will automatically receive the rate.

Natural gas rates will decrease for residents enrolled in the township’s gas program.

Residents who are served by another supplier may seek enrollment in the program by calling IGS Energy at 1-800-280-4474,” said Doug Austin, vice president of IGS Energy. He encouraged residents served by other suppliers to review the terms and conditions of their current supplier agreement before enrolling. New customers to the program must be in good standing and cannot be part of the utility’s Percentage of Income Payment Program (PIPP). For more information, call IGS Energy at 1-800-280-4474.
