Local singing contest heads to semifinals

Greenville, Pa.

The Greenville Symphony Orchestra has announced the semifinalists in the initial GSO Rising Stars competition for amateur singers.

The semifinals will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Passavant Center on the campus of Thiel College. Admission is $5.

The semifinalists are:

Age 10-15: Brittany Best of Poland; Miranda Bubenheim, Erin Hoffacker, Samantha Keys, Marie Lineman, Kate McCann and Nikki Perry, all of Greenville, Pa.; Michele DeGeralomo and Marissa Works, both of Hermitage, Pa.; Emma Gerasmik of Clark, Pa.; Rachel Stanko of Transfer, Pa.; and Kyle Whelan of Sharpsville, Pa.

Age 16-25: Maggie Babinka of Greenville; Kayla Bickerton, Dale Miller and Stephanie Witzorreck, all of Jamestown, Pa.; Katlin George of Export, Pa.; Jada Hinman, Rachel Lambert and Sydney Stone, all of Hermitage; Levon Hudson of New Castle, Pa.; Matt Neihaus of Sharon, Pa.; Kenzie Palmer of West Middlesex, Pa.; and Jackie Popovec of Canfield.

Age 26 and over: Alan Anderson and John Kosmowski, both of Mercer, Pa.; Monique Borders of Sharon; Kathy Emigh of Carlton, Pa.; Pat Fry of Jamestown; Ruth Fry Guerrini, Stephanie Hills and April Mowry, all of Greenville; Paul McConnell of Hubbard; Rachel Mellor of Grove City, Pa.; Rick Mollick of Ashtabula; and Dana Stewart of Fowler.
