Girard boy hospitalized after being bitten by family pet

GIRARD

A 6-year-old boy was attacked by a great Dane and was taken to the hospital with severe facial lacerations, police report.

Police said the boy, Owen Whitmore, was attacked at his home at 22 1/2 E. Second St. Police received the 911 call from the boy’s mother, Jessica Fellows, at 8:14 a.m.

Police said Fellows and Owen met them at the door. Trauma to his face included severe lacerations to his upper and lower lip and the right side of his face.

The dog is a family pet, police report.

Owen was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Health Center. The hospital would not release information on his condition Monday night.
