BOARDMAN — A Maple Drive man was in the Mahoning County jail today, accused of shooting his wife.

Christian Jaeger, 55, is charged with felonious assault and domestic violence.

Jaeger initially told police that he was in his basement shooting a rifle at the wall when a bullet ricocheted off the wall and struck his wife in the back of the shoulder.

Andrea Jaeger, 43, was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center. She also relayed different versions of how she got shot including that her husband was cleaning the gun and that a bullet ricocheted off the wall.

Eventually, police said, Jaeger said he fired the rifle at his wife but said he didn’t intend to hurt her.
