When trouble strikes, helpful neighbors make a difference

I am writing this letter much later than I had hoped, as my husband has lung cancer. He is home with me, which I am thankful for, but does require a lot of care, and therefore my time is limited.

On May 7, while walking two small dogs near the Bed and Breakfast in Poland, I was crossing 170. As I did the lights started to change and I got very nervous and rushed, and fell in the middle of the road. I held the dog leashes to me and just prayed that we would not be hit. Anyone who drives that road knows how busy it is and how fast traffic moves, so they will realize what a blessing it was that the cars stopped in both directions and we were safe.

I just want to say a huge thank you to every person who stopped their car, and those who also got out to see if I was alright and keep traffic at bay. There truly are so many good people around us, which we often do not realize. God bless all of you.

Nick Boniface, who I know through my church, Poland Presbyterian, was in the area at the time. He asked if I was hurt and if he could call his dad, Dr. Tom, to check on me. This saved me a trip to the emergency room, which with my home situation was another big help.

Everyone was wonderful to me.
